Danny Doyle - The Old Dun Cow
Some friends and i in a public house
were playing dominos Last night.
When into the bar the barman rushed
with his face all chalky white.
What's up says Brown,
Have you seen a ghost,
Have you seen your Aunt Myriah
"Ah my Aunt Myriah be buggered!" says he
"The bleeding pub's on fire!"
"On Fire !" Says Brown
"Well there's a bit of luck.
Everybody follow me,
Down to the cellar if the fire's ain't there
we'll have a rare auld spree!"
So we all went down with good auld Brown
and booze we could not miss.
And we had not been 10 minutes there,
before we were all drunk.
CHORUS
And there was Brown, upside down
moppin' up the whiskey off the floor
Booze Booze the firemen cried
as they came knockin' at the door
Don't let them in till it's all mopped up
Somebody shouted "MacIntyre".
And we all got stone blind paralytic drunk,
When the Old Dun Cow caught fire.
Then Smith rushed over to the port wine tub
gave it just a few hard knocks
started taken' off his pantaloons
likewise his shoes and socks
"Hang on!" Says Brown
"That ain't allowed!
No you can't do that there here!
Don't wash your trotters in the port wine tub,
when we've got some old stale beer"
CHORUS
Just then there came an awful crash
half the bloody roof gave way.
Now we were drowned in the fireman's hose,
But we were almost gay.
So we got wet sack and auld tin tacks
and nailed ourselves inside.
And we sat there drinkin' pints of beer
till we were bleary eyed!
CHORUS
