How to Play Your Own Game | Ritika Arora | TEDxSaintFrancisHS
Ritika Arora's eleven-year-old self dream: having the fastest mile run time in the class... or even better... building tunnels through the walls of her house like Parker Rooney from the Disney Channel show Liv and Maddie. After an unfortunate reality check as a sixteen-year-old, none of these actually happened. Growing up idolizing characters on TV and looking at those around herself for an example of what to do, Ritika didn't understand the detrimental effects of setting standards based on other's achievements until they became impossible to live up to. In her talk, she shares how her experience with leukemia led to the idea of creating personal benchmarks and she hopes to guide others to a similar mentality. Ritika Arora is a sophomore at Saint Francis High School. She takes part in the JV school golf team and in various styles of dance. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, watching Netflix, and advocating for pediatric cancer. She loves to spend time with family and friends. In her talk, Ritika hopes to reflect on some of her setbacks that put her on the journey to discovering the idea of personal benchmarks. She wants to emphasize leaving behind the universal standards and the importance of taking individual experiences into account when setting goals. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
