This Calling (2x Bass Pedal) by All That Remains - Pro Drum FC
alright, so this is a big boy FC. Never would I have imagined going for this, until one fateful night where I proceeded to hit chorus 2 CONSISTENTLY. There's gonna be a massive explanation for why this FC is a journey of "over-complicating" because I cannot single stroke that fast for that long lol.
Here's where we start: the intro lol. When the first R+Y comes in, in double stroking you start with RR. You continue the intro with RR LL RR. Up until the very end, which has a R+Y again, but, no kick under it. So, being a scrub heel toe player, you have to end the double bass on LL, with your hands finalizing the beat (its awkward, okay?)
Thus leads us into the triple kick luls (0:14) You're damn right I'ma fucking RRL this shit. Ain't nobody got any interest in RLR'ing all of this.
Chorus 1 (0:34): Pretty straight forward for double strokes, everything starts on RR, and ends on LL. To make things even better, you can even double stroke the rolls to keep the doubles going. The second double bass phrase has you do yet again, what the intro requires, which is footing LL, and playing a R+G on hands.
Chorus 2 (1:13): First and second double bass phrase is RR start and LL end (ez) the third phrase though, oh boy. Starts on RR, and ends on RR (with a G on the first of the RR). This is awkward. Even for how long I've been playing heel toe, it just doesn't feel natural whatsoever.
Everything from the ending of chorus 2, into chorus 3 fortunately zero chokes. no blue laser chijes (meow)
Chorus 3 (2:46): I had a total of three runs to chorus 3 over the duration of my grinds. Both chokes were immediately after the first double bass phrase due to nerves. Same as chorus 2, both the first and second set of double bass are RR start, LL end. Then here comes the real Fuck You, the third (and final set of sustained double bass in the song) ends on a RRL. A RIGHT RIGHT LEFT. I can't even begin to explain how stupid this is to transition double strokes instantly into singles. Which I fucking TRIED in practice mode. It works but, oh my god, the nerves, and mid double bass switching techniques is not consistent at all. If this simply had no cymbal on the last RR, this would've been a cakewalk but the fact I had to play it with it just makes this so much worse. Sure as shit, my third run ever to chorus 3, I managed to hit this. and absolutely no JLC donks on the outro.
I am so happy with this FC, and the fact the grind was non-existent. As most of the time I was gatekeeped by the intro because bad! Also, I am aware this video is out of order chronologically. This just had me so damn hyped up, and I wanted this up ASAP
Here's to more heel-toe FCs! (and the lol rng associated with it)
