Noncoincident Loads | Journeyman & Master Electrical Exam Prep (2023 NEC)

When heating and cooling equipment are not expected to run at the same time, the NEC allows for noncoincident load calculations to reduce total demand. In this video, we’ll cover the rules in Article 220, explain how to identify noncoincident loads, and work through examples you’ll see on the exam.

What you’ll learn in this video:
NEC 220.60 rules for noncoincident loads
How to apply the larger load when equipment doesn’t operate simultaneously
Common examples with electric heat vs. air conditioning
Step-by-step exam-style calculation walkthroughs
Real-world applications for service and feeder sizing

This lesson is perfect for apprentices, journeyman candidates, and master exam prep students who want to master load calculations for heating and cooling systems.
