Two men walked out of the the Home Depot on Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage with a refund of more than $1,000 without buying or returning anything.
Joseph Coggins, 34, walked in the store, grabbed a cart and pushed it to the bath section where he loaded it with a bathtub, faucet, sink and strainer.
He then pushed the cart to the service desk where 42-year-old Harry Hawkins was waiting.
They returned the items they never actually bought, and were given a refund of $1,044.33 in cash before they left.
Home Depot’s return policy states returns made within 90 days of purchase with a valid sales receipt will be exchanged, refunded in cash, credited to your account or refunded via the Home Depot store credit.
