Hartwell Railroad's GRWR # 6525 is a GP9 engine that was built for the Baltimore & Ohio (B&O) Railroad in 1957 by EMD. After the merger with Chesapeake & Ohio (C&O) Railway and Western Maryland (WM) Railway, Chessie System was founded in 1973. Chessie used a paint scheme that contained the kitten logo originally introduced by C&O in the 1930s to advertize their crack passenger services.

In 1980, CSX was incorporated by the merger of Chessie System and Seaboard Coast Line. Before CSX started repainting all units, #6525 was sold to the shortline Hartwell Railroad (which belongs to the Great Walton Railroad). Service ceased several years ago when technical issues occured. Since, #6525 stands abandoned on an industrial side track in Athens GA, still showing it's Chessie paint scheme.
