Fisher, from the weasel family, in East Ferris - Corbeil backyard near North Bay, Ontario, Canada

It's rare to see a Fisher out and about at high noon, they're more nocturnal and you're lucky to see them at dusk or sunrise. This young teenager, however, came for a visit in my Corbeil, ON backyard (near North Bay, Ontario, Canada) on March 12, 2020. A member of the weasel family, the Fisher (misnamed by Dutch, French due to resemblance to polecat), is called Ojiig in Anishinabemowin (Ojibway) and the Algonquin call them Wejack. I threw a can of frozen perch skins and heads out to the middle of the yard for him. No doubt he'll return so I better get rid of all the garbage in the sheds.
