"Pick two of three" is the most repeated — and most wrong — explanation of the CAP theorem. Here's the honest version in under a minute.

You'll learn what a network partition actually is (your servers are alive, the network between them isn't), why partition tolerance is not something you can opt out of, and why the real choice happens only during a partition: answer with possibly stale data, or refuse to answer and stay correct. Then the part that matters in practice — you choose per feature. A stale like count harms nobody. A stale password lets someone into an account they shouldn't have.

The better question isn't "consistency or availability?" It's "what does a wrong answer cost, right here?"
