Stroum Lectures 2012: A Remarkable Modern Jewish Book
In this introductory lecture, Professor David Ruderman surveys the historical background behind the publication of Pinhas Hurwitz's Sefer ha-Brit (The Book of the Covenant) in the late 18th century. He also probes the book's popular ethical message and suggests some surprising sources for Hurwitz's notion of universal tolerance.
