William T. Vollmann - The Dying Grass - Book Review

Book review of William T. Vollmann's The Dying Grass, Volume 5 of the Seven Dreams series. Here Vollmann examines the conflict between the Nez Perce Native Americans and the U.S. military, government, volunteers, and frontier people. Volume 2: Fathers and Crows (1992), about the efforts of Jesuit missionaries in Canada (16th-18th centuries).
Volume 3: Argall (2001), written in a 17th-century prose style, about the settlement of Jamestown (17th century).
