Sawmill Gets a New Carriage. Century Old Altman Taylor with Detroit 371 Power.
These saws do not make sawdust. It makes chips as the teeth are really little chisels whirling away at the log. Nice chips, nice saw.

This is the test saw after the installation of a carriage for my century old Altman-Taylor sawmill. Cedar wood. It is powered by a Detroit Diesel 371 power unit from a Marion Crane. The carriage hardware is actually Geiser of the same era. The old carriage was rotted away, believed to be oak. Mortise and tenon construction.
