Viewtiful Joe - Ultra-V Rated Stage 6 | Rainbow V (No Damage)

Well, this is probably where most people would give up. Going though a boss rush with slightly buffed bosses, culminating in the battle with Fire Leo? Insane. Irrc during my first playthough i used like 10 continues on this stage alone. Searcing around the web you can still find some old forums of people upset about this and asking for help. Can't blame them.

Now, i actually got this done much faster than anticipated. I did like 2 practice runs and after that it was about 1-2 hours and it was over. The bosses have more health and are slighty faster. But the strats remain the same. If you know how to deal with them, you just need to be a little bit more on your toes here, because they react faster than their regular versions, but that's about it. It's especially notable with Another Joe. You really need to be speedrunning around in order to shut him down, or else he'll start doing his stuff. Thing is, on a first playthough, since you (probably) don't know how to deal with any given boss eficiently, it ends up being an absolutely brutal gauntlet.

Since the bosses remain the same, let's focus on the unique one, Fire Leo. It's genuinely one of my favorite boss fights ever. He makes you use every single one of your powers, and can shut down your Slow invicibility with fire attacks unless you have Mach Speed aura. His 5 consecutive slashes are only discernible through audio cues on Ultra-V Rated. You can notice i screwed up near the end of the fight but still made it through.

As for strats against him, it's not really easy because he's insanely fast, but you can somewhat loop him. As soon as the fight starts, a boulder should fall right in front of you. Use that to build up your fire aura, and quickly run up to him using Mach Speed. Any attack should suffice, i like using Red Hot Kick because it's really safe. After eliminating his fire aura, he'll do a slashing attack which you can anticipate if it's gonna be high or low by watching which hand will attack. Assuming he's to your right, from your perspective, right-handed attacks will be lows and left-handed will be high. Don't forget that it's inverted if he's to your left. If it's too much to remember, you can actually simply react to his animations, since if you pay attention, he elevates his hand to use high attacks, while with lows he keeps it really close to the ground. That's the method i use, so that's why you see me activate Slow before dodging, to give me time to process the information and react. Dodge, Do 3 Slowed-Zoomed punches, he'll attack again, dodge, repeat the attack, this should break his shield. He's gonna do one final attack before entering his spinning phase. You can tell when he's gonna attack high or low because each one has a very distinct sound cue. I don't really know to explain so just pay attention to the audio. Also, use Slow because it's too fast to dodge normally. It follows a rhytm, you need to get used to it. After 5 consecutive dodges, he'll get dizzy, and that's the chance to attack. Look away from him, throw a Voomerang, and as soon as it starts to hit him, activate Slow+Zoom and punch him 5 times. The Voomerang will add some really nice damage that will shorten the fight. You don't need to worry about V-points because the requirements are really low; Not sure how much but it should be virtually impossible to miss it since you don't get any points for hitting him. After 5 punches he'll back away and jump into lava; use this opportunity to quickly throw a bomb, activate Mach Speed+Zoom and hold Kick to quickly build up your fire aura. You should be done by the time he returns. Watch where he's gonna come from, sometimes he might jump right on top of you. As said before, i like to interrupt him with a Red Hot Kick for safety. After that, the fight should follow those same patters, provided you are fast enough.
