Mac Studio M5 Max vs Ryzen AI Max+ for Local AI: $5,099 vs From $3,099 (Pre-Sale), Both 128 GB

Apple's Mac Studio with M5 Max and 128 GB costs $5,099 (512 GB SSD). AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini PCs with 128 GB start at $3,099 at Bosgame's pre-sale price (2 TB SSD), about $2,000 less. The Mac has 614 GB/s of memory bandwidth vs 256 GB/s for the AMD chip. Our estimate for Qwen 3.8 27B at 8-bit is ~21 vs ~9 tok/s; real speeds run lower. Neither machine gives the GPU all 128 GB by default.
