PALADIN – Charge (Full Album) 1972 UK 1st Issue `Rare Progressive Rock` Roger Dean Sleeve £150

Here is a copy of the 2nd album by UK Progressive Rock band `Paladin` called `Charge`. It was released on Islands subsidiary label `Bronze` (ILPS 9190) in 1972. It features a classic `Roger Dean` painting on the front & rear of the gatefold sleeve. Notice on the video the original label has rim credits to Island Records & `Recording First published..` text on both sides, this shows it is a first UK pressing! Sleeve has `printed and made by Tinsley Robor group Ltd` text. A mint copy was sold in 2009 for £155!

Paladin were founded in 1970 by classically trained multi-instrumentalist Peter Solley and jazz drummer Keith Webb, two members of Terry Reid's band which was part of the opening act for the Rolling Stones on their 1969 American tour. The other members of the band were Derek Foley (guitar and vocals) who previously played in Grisby Dyke; Lou Stonebridge (keyboards and vocals) from Glass Menagerie, which had released five progressive rock and psychedelic rock singles; and Peter Beckett (bass guitar, vocals) who came from Liverpool-based Winston G and The Wicked, and later in the final incarnation of World of Oz.
Recorded at The Beatles’ APPLE studios and engineered by GEOFF EMERICK, Charge was Paladin’s finest hour featuring the classics ‘Give Me Your hand’ and ‘Anyway’
