Nanotoxicology course Lecture 6. In vitro toxicity evaluation
In this lecture, we will discuss some aspects of in vitro models for the assessment of nanoparticle toxicity. Firstly, I will give a brief observation of cell culture history. Then I will explain the basics of cell culture, including the definition of cell cultures, types of cell cultures, requirements needed for cell cultivation, etc. Then I will give some information on other in vitro systems, such as cell spheroids and organs-on-chip. In the end, we will discuss why it is hard to pick up a proper model for nanoparticle toxicity assessment based on some published papers.
