In 1965 Shelby American battled Ferrari for the F.I.A. World Manufacturers' GT Championship. Carroll Shelby’s lead driver Bob Bondurant, dominated the season winning 7 of the 10 races. This was the first time in history an American Driver and Manufacturer won the F.I A. GT Championship. No American team has won the championship again.
