The Great Train Robbery: The First Western
Edwin Porter's classic silent film The Great Train Robbery (1903) helped define the language of film - from on location shooting, composite editing, camera movements, and cross-cuts. It's also the first time anyone should someone being made to dance by shooting at their feet.
