Watercolor Excerpt from "Cezanne’s Mont Sainte-Victoire" - Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop

Introduction and Expanded Watercolor Painting Demonstration Excerpt from "Cezanne’s Mont Sainte-Victoire in Provence, France" - Program 103 of Emmy-Award winning PBS Series Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop.

In this excerpt from our half-hour PBS program, artist David Dunlop travels to magical locations in France (Aix en Provence and the iconic Mont Sainte-Victoire) that inspired Paul Cezanne (1839-1906). In the program’s introduction, David considers Cezanne’s ambitious struggle to reconcile stability and form with change and movement and discusses his insights into visual perception. David then places his easel in front of Mont Sainte-Victoire and explores Cezanne’s techniques while creating a pencil sketch and a watercolor. In this expanded demonstration we have included additional footage that was not included in the PBS version due to time constraints. David discusses Cezanne’s difficulties, frustrations, and his ultimate success – as the father of Modernism.
