Polymers can be classified on the basis of their structure depending on the arrangement of monomer units.
This classification is explained step-wise as follows:
Step 1: Linear Polymers
• Long straight chains
• Closely packed
• High tensile strength
• Example: PVC, Nylon-6,6

Step 2: Branched Polymers
• Main chain with side branches
• Less closely packed
• Lower density
• Example: LDPE

Step 3: Cross-Linked or Network Polymers
• Chains linked by covalent bonds
• Hard and rigid structure
• Example: Bakelite, Melamine
