Why do your discussion essays often lack depth?

To score high in a Discussion Essay, explicitly acknowledge both views without mixing them. Dedicate a full paragraph to each side's arguments and supporting details.

Then, use a dedicated concluding paragraph to clearly state your final opinion or synthesis, explaining why one side might be stronger or if a balance is preferable.

Some argue that online education offers unparalleled flexibility and access. In contrast, others contend that traditional classrooms foster better interaction and disciplined habits.

Band 6 lists arguments. Band 8 doesn't just present both sides; it critically evaluates and synthesizes them into a nuanced position.
