What's With the Gold Foil on the Gemini Spacecraft?
That gold foil in the Gemini adapter section wasn't just pretty, it was extremely useful. The gold foil was the same as the material on the lunar module descent stage and played the same role: it was for temperature management in the extreme environment of space.
