Bethlehem is especially silent this year. The Palestinian town is biblically famous for being the birthplace of Jesus. In a typical year, that would mean thousands of Christmas tourists, staying at hotels, eating at restaurants and shopping at Bethlehem’s stores. But the COVID-19 pandemic is keeping many people home. Around the world, Christmas is looking different this year. In Frankfurt, Germany, a bakery put its 2020 spin on Santa Claus, crafting chocolates in his likeness with face masks.
