"Au Privave" is a 12-bar blues in the key of F major. However, instead of using a traditional, simple blues progression, Parker infused it with complex bebop harmonies:

* Chromatically Descending Chords: It utilizes rapid ii-V-I progressions and passing chords to create a dense harmonic path for improvisers.
* The Melody (Head): The melody is highly syncopated and built on asymmetric phrases, serving as a perfect exercise for mastering the articulation and phrasing of the bebop style.

While Parker’s 1951 recording remains the definitive blueprint, other jazz giants have delivered legendary interpretations:

* Jimmy Smith (1957): A blazing, soulful organ-led version on his album *The Sermon!*.
* Cannonball Adderley (1960): A hard-bop, deeply swinging rendition from his live album *The Cannonball Adderley Quintet in San Francisco*.
