Inside an optical mouse, there are three main components:

LED light source
Tiny camera sensor
Microcontroller chip
The LED shines a beam of light onto the surface below the mouse. Meanwhile, the sensor acts like a miniature camera, capturing thousands of images per second of that surface. By comparing these rapid images, the microcontroller calculates the exact direction and speed of your movement.

It converts this movement into digital signals and sends them through the cable to your computer. The computer's operating system then receives these signals and moves the cursor instantly on your screen.

All of this complex process happens in just milliseconds — and that's exactly how your mouse works from the inside!
