Richard Gere's Parents and Siblings (3 sisters and 1 brother)

Richard Gere is one of the most talented, famous and rich Hollywood actors. He was born in 1949 in sunny Philadelphia. Since early years, he liked music, especially trumpet and that’s why learnt to play it and was dreaming of becoming a musician one day. However, he was also interested in other kinds of art, for example, he performed at a school stage, took part in different concerts, etc. Besides, he was also good at sports, to be exact in gymnastics and athletics.

After school, Gere entered the Massachusetts University, where he was studying at the department of general stage management. Having studied there for 2 years, he was ready to run away, as it was real boredom. And that’s exactly what he did with the musicians from Vermont. Yet, tight communication with these artists also turned out to be disastrous because of jealousy and little money. So, Gere left the band and headed to New York. He immediately registered in several agencies and started going to auditions.

Richard’s childhood can’t be called unclouded. Even though he was welcomed to the world by loving parents, the family’s income was more than small. The father, Homer George Gere was an insurance agent by profession who was working hard to feed the family. He met his sweetheart, Doris in a school. Then they were both studying in the same University, after which moved to the North of New York, tied the knot and started creating a family.

The actor’s mother, Doris Ann Gere devoted all her life to a husband and children. She was a great housewife who could always find a way how to save money, properly feed all kids and moreover, pay money for Richard’s and other kids’ sports sections and different clubs. Additionally to that she was also a member of a Methodist church.

The eldest one is Susan, who lives in Belmont and is married to James Leone.

Another sister is Joanne, who is a mother to 2 sons and lives a calm and private life with the family in New Jersey.

The third sister, Laura lives in Boston. She is married to Oscar Lazaro and is a mother to a daughter.

Richard’s only brother is David. He is a professor, an attentive and caring father to 2 children as well as a loving spouse. David has been a supporter of the LGBT community for several decades, since he is gay. Both brothers do really have a strong bond. They remain to be close up till nowadays, no matter whether something good or bad happens.
