Fascinating Ada
Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace was the only legitimate child of George, Lord Byron and his wife Anne Isabella Milbanke, 11th Baroness Wentworth and Baroness Byron.
Lady Byron was acquainted with many of the key intellectuals of the time and made sure Ada had an excellent mathematical education.
Ada Lovelace is considered my many people to be the world’s first computer programmer for the work she did with Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine.
The middle Tuesday of the month of October is Ada Lovelace Day, this year it’s on the 13th.
Ada’s birthday is 10th December 1815, so this year 2015 is the 200th anniversary of her birth.
Tim demonstrates some of the objects from his mathematical collection to celebrate Ada’s special year and wish her “a very happy birthday”
