The Top 30 songs with 3 extras by Hall & Oates, Natalie Cole and Split Enz from the 1980 singles charts of Billboard and Cash Box magazines for weeks ending September 6, 13, 20 and 27.

Unlike for my books, Ranking the ‘60s and Ranking the ‘70s (with Bill Carroll), in which a weighted ranking system was used, I used a simple reverse ranking system, assigning 1 point to No. 30, 2 points to No. 29, etc. I kept it simple since we’re dealing with four weeks rather than a longer duration, like a year.

Two songs were copy-protected so I substituted covers for them. You will find them ranked at No. 25 and No. 2.
