The Howard Executions - The Men Accused Of Sleeping With Henry VIII's Queen

Henry VIII was known for being a brutal King, and he's most well known for ordering the execution of two of his wives. Previously we've looked at Anne Boleyn's execution and also the men who were accused of adultery with Henry's Queen. Today it is the turn of Catherine Howard, and we consider her relationship with the King and also look at the men who were accused of adultery with the Queen.

Like Anne Boleyn's downfall, Catherine Howard's execution was another shocking event in Tudor history. Catherine being much younger than Henry VIII was never really cut out to have reigned as a Queen, and her past before she met the King would come to haunt her. She was known to have been rather immature, and was also by the standards of the Tudor era slightly promiscuous.

Today we look at the Catherine Howard Execution, but we also look at the two men who were accused and were possibly infact guilty of having an affair with Henry VIII's Queen. Francis Dereham who previously had intimate relations with Catherine before her marriage to Henry and also Thomas Culpepper. Culpepper is an incredibly interesting figure, as he was a very popular member of Henry's court. He was one of Henry's favourites, however would admit to intending to sleep with his wife, after a number of liaisons which were set up.
