Ms Cass rumbling
Cassowaries make very low frequency rumbling sounds to alert other birds of their presence. The birds probably make these sounds to alert other birds of their presence to avoid altercations. Ms Cass has been making a series of between 3 and five rumbles today but sometimes they make one long continuous rumble. The microphone on the iphone has not picked up the lowest frequencies of this sound. Video ©Liz Gallie for the Mission Beach Cassowary Identification and Tracking project
