How To Shoot A Music Video For Rock Bands

In this video tutorial, i break down how i shoot rock music videos in detail. I felt this would give up and coming directors or people who haven't shot a rock music video, a pretty good idea and grasp prior to stepping onto their first rock music video set.

Leave them a comment on their music video and tell them you came from the Behind The Scenes video!

Rock music videos consist of either 100% Broll and follow some sort of story line OR they're very performance scene heavy. I chose to go the performance scene route with the Hourhand for their new single 'The Hobo and The Bull'.

Rather than just shooting performance scenes throughout this music video, i put a little RoyalZ touch to it with the slow motion 150fps Broll shots and a mix of my own editing style in post.

Like i said in the video tutorial, this is definitely a big step away from rap and hiphop music videos however, if you're trying to evolve as a creator/director/music videographer then you gotta' step up and shoot things that are out of your comfort zone!

Overall, TheHourhand was awesome to work with as usual. Make sure to follow them on Instagram and check out their music videos that we've shot together!
