A Solvable Quintic Equation From The Chebyshev Polynomial
We will see an introduction to Chebyshev Polynomial, which is a polynomial in terms of cosine. And then we will use this polynomial to create a solvable quintic equation. This kind of polynomial equation from trigonometric identities is very classic. I also have seen this kind of equation on college admission math tests.
0:00 Introduction to Chebyshev Polynomial (of the first kind)
2:45 The recursive formula of the Chebyshev Polynomial
10:47 cos(5θ) in terms of cos(θ)
13:47 using cos(5θ) to produce a nice quintic equation
