This is a Terrible Answer to give at Your US Visa Interview! #visainterview

If the visa officer asks:

“What are your plans when you return?”

or

“What will you do after your trip?”

one of the worst answers you can give is:

“I don't know.” 🚨

Or even worse:

“I haven't really thought about it.”

For many nonimmigrant visa applicants, the officer isn't only interested in why you want to go to the United States.

They may also want to understand why you're going to leave.

What are you returning to?

Your job? Your studies? Your business? Your family responsibilities? Your career plans? Something else that is genuinely part of YOUR life?

You don't need to invent a future just to give the officer a good answer—and you should NEVER make something up.

But you should understand your actual plans and be prepared to explain them clearly.

If you're asking the officer to believe your trip is temporary, having absolutely no idea what you're going to do afterward can create questions you don't want to create.

Know why you're going. Know how long you're staying. And know what you're coming back to.
