Let's Crack Zodiac - Episode 13 - Deep Learning

This is a talk I gave in 2019 at the NSA’s Cryptologic History Symposium, a little over a year before we discovered the solution to Z340.
It’s about using artificial intelligence methods to try to work out what kind of cipher the Z340 might have been.
I didn’t learn much from the experiment, other than it seemed to be showing me Z340 might not be gibberish (which in hindsight is correct!)
So I’m finally posting the video here for completeness. Cipher type identification is still a huge challenge, especially with the unsolved codes and ciphers that are still out there!
