A Sense of Community—Brian Pinkney

Brian Pinkney is a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and holds a Master's degree in illustration from SVA where his work has been exhibited. His illustrations have also been shown at The Art Institute of Chicago, the Cedar Rapids Museum or Art, The Detroit Institute of Art, The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Society of Illustrators. His work has also been featured at The Katonah Museum of Art in the Children Should Be Seen exhibition in 2007, Storied City: New York in Picture Book Art, 2011 and in the Learning Center exhibition, The Pinkneys: An Award Winning Family of Artists and Writers, 1999. He has been recognized for his contribution to illustration with two Caldecott Honors, one Coretta Scott King award and four honors, as well as the Boston Globe/Horn book award.
