Ottawa zoning overhaul: 30 storeys, end of parking minimums

Ottawa City Council has unanimously approved a sweeping new zoning bylaw that eliminates minimum parking requirements and allows for 30-storey towers on main streets. CTV’s Kimberley Fowler reports on the changes designed to accommodate a doubling population over the next 25 years. While College Ward Coun. Laine Johnson supports the "grow up, not out" strategy, she notes residents are concerned about whether infrastructure can keep pace. The new rules also permit three-storey buildings in most neighbourhoods and make it easier to operate small businesses from home.
