Main Kaa Karoon Ram Expressions | Ep 2 Nakul Dev Mahajan

As a young boy raised in The United States in the late 70’s, I was always drawn to Hindi cinema (Bollywood). Although it wasn’t allowed, I danced my heart away, as my passion for dance became my escape and eventually a career.

A huge part of working on my craft was sitting in front of a mirror and practicing my facial expressions. I would do both roles of the hero and the heroine. Decades later, I still do this and pass the importance of facial expressions to my students. Just as the eyes are the window to the soul, a face is the window into the dancer and the dance. A dancer who does not express emotion and expression during a performance becomes uninteresting and dull.

Unfortunately, this part of dance is given less importance, especially in Bollywood dance today. Thus, as an educator and someone who strongly believes that artists should constantly pay it forward, I have decided to offer this series. I hope it inspires those who are interested in broaden their Bollywood expressions or even get some ideas. Most of all, I hope this series brings a little more joy to your day.
