Deregel, one of the most iconic and spirited dances of the Dinka Bor people, is brought to life in this powerful performance by the Nyiir Bor youth from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Though born in America and raised far from the traditional cattle camps of their forebears, these young men and women have mastered the art, rhythm, and meaning of Deregel with exceptional skill and pride.

This video was recorded in preparation for the Bor Community Conference, which will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 24 to 25 May 2025. At this conference, culture will speak louder than words. The dedication of these young people reminds us that no distance can erase identity.
