Our students visited the Sericulture Composite Unit at Jambuni, Sriniketan, Bolpur (731204, West Bengal) to learn about the fascinating process of sericulture and silk farming. This educational tour gave them hands-on exposure to how silk is produced – right from the mulberry fields to the spinning of silkworm cocoons.

During the visit, students learned about:

✅ Silkworm Rearing – life cycle stages of Bombyx mori and how larvae are nurtured.
✅ Cocoon Formation – how silkworms spin cocoons using silk threads.
✅ Reeling & Processing – methods of extracting silk threads from cocoons.
✅ Practical Exposure – students observed, interacted, and understood the importance of sericulture in rural economy and employment.
