Why ‘Record Levels of Enthusiasm’ Are Causing Long Lines At The Polls

As Nov. 3 approaches, we’ve heard stories of everything from fake ballot boxes to early voters waiting in line at the polls for hours. Wendy Weiser, director of the Democracy program at the Brennan Center for Justice, told me that funding and staffing shortages, along with “record levels of enthusiasm,” are partly behind these lines.
