On March 21, 2024, U.S. Border Patrol agents responded to reports of migrants attempting to scale the border fence near Otay Mesa, California.

One woman became trapped high on the north side of the approximately 30-foot-tall fence. For more than 20 minutes, agents repeatedly instructed her to hold on while emergency responders worked to reach her location.

As firefighters made their way to the scene with rescue equipment, the woman began shouting that she could no longer hold on.

Moments later, she fell.
