Intel's Z590 Motherboard Problem: i7-11700K Power & Thermals Explained
We're walking through the recurring challenge Intel faces regarding motherboard manufacturer freedom and stability, high thermals, and needlessly high power consumption on the 11700K.

The Intel i7-11700K didn't do well in our review when compared vs. the AMD R7 5800X, R9 5900X, or even Intel i7-10700K of last generation. We're once again back to explore why performance will be somewhat variable on these 11-series parts, and further, why stability, thermals, and power could be problems with some motherboard configurations. Testing was done using parts we acquired entirely on our own, including from retailers, as open components available on retail channels. Other components, like the Intel i5-11600K and i9-11900K, remain under embargo until a future date as they were provided by Intel.
