As someone who used to be a plumber it has always surprised me how many people's homes I go to that don't know how to shut off the water coming into your house. Accidents happen, things break when you lease expect it and it is important to know how to shut your water off inside your house.

I unhook a supply line and turn the stop on, for thirty seconds just to demonstrate exactly how much water will come out and how much water damage there can be in just thirty seconds. Without knowing how to shut your water off you would have to wait on someone else to come do it for you all while the water is gushing out and precious time is ticking away.
