Predictive Engineering Celebrates 30 Years of Engineering Simulation Success
What a benchmark and hard to believe that I (George Laird) started Predictive Engineering 30 years ago on May 20, 1996. One of most proud accomplishments has been the continued success record of Predictive. My team of engineers has done over 800 simulation projects, and we have had not one failure under test or under service.
Normally, this type of announcement includes a time lapse video showing our project history but given that our website pretty much covers all of that and there is no need to look backward. Yesterday’s news. I want to write about the future and what I find super interesting – Renewable Energy. The boom of renewables is not about “going green” or ecology or “saving the planet” – it is about capitalism, aka, “making money”. We are entering a whole new age of wind, solar, hydrogen, batteries and nuclear. If one steps back and think about the complete energy circle, for wind and solar, we have wind at night and sun during the day. Wind power, with the new gigantic blades (100 m each) and solar panels as a commodity, we have sources of energy that link up 24/7. Of course, for peaking power one can look at hydrogen, batteries and nuclear. What also makes renewables so attractive is the coming replacement of the combustion engine with electric vehicles (EV). EV’s present the perfect storage solution since their batteries can be charged at night (wind) or during the day (solar) and feed back into the grid when not being driven. This complete cycle of renewables is being driven by simple economics and one day our children will only know crystal clear air, economical electric energy and as vehicles almost silently swoosh around.
Predictive Engineering is front and center in the analysis of wind, solar, batteries, hydrogen and nuclear. Our experience touches all these renewable fronts. Not to stray from the subject, I’m very excited about our new effort in the design and installation of a small solar array in Barreal, San Juan, Argentina. It will be our first pilot project where Solar as a Service (SaaS) is being implemented.
Of course, a hearty thanks to all our wonderful clients who have supported Predictive since 1995.
