Emacs Org Mode - Using Checkboxes - Emacs Doom 17

Every item in a plain list can be converted into a checkbox, which makes it a simple task. Checkboxes in Org Mode start with square brackets. They are used to split a task into a number of simple steps, or to create a checklist.

Checkboxes can be nested. In that case, the parent checkbox tracks the progress of its children. Additionally, there are markers to display the count, either as a number or as a percentage. These are called cookies in Org Mode. Those cookies must be attached to the parent element, either headline or another checkbox.

Org Mode is considered to be the Emacs killer application. It is a personal knowledge management and outlining tools for Emacs. Org Mode documents are textual files. There is no proprietary format. Those files can be easily checked into a Git repository so that you can follow how they evolve over time.

Doom is an Emacs configuration for the Stubborn Martian Vimmer. It can be used as a base for your own configuration, or as a battery-included Emacs distribution. Emacs Doom is also smaller and faster than similar Emacs distributions (such as Spacemacs). Doom is known for its polished UI and focus on usability.

In this series I will go over most of the packages included in Emacs Doom by default. As this Emacs distribution is oriented towards Vim people, most of the keybindings differ significantly from the vanilla Emacs. Also, the packages discussed are not unique to Emacs Doom, they can be installed separately; Emacs Doom provides only some sane defaults.
