Well... Here are our 6 must eat places on the Big Island.
#1 Pokē Market:
Known as a Hawaiian favorite, for its upscale poke bowls, sushi cakes and other island specialties. This was our first experience eating out in Hilo and we absolutely loved it! Great choices, flavors and fresh fish!
#2 Kula Shave Ice:
Serving the best organic shave ice, acai bowls and cold brew coffee this place has something for everyone that has a sweet tooth.
#3 Two Ladies Bakery:
A convectionery kitchen that is dominating the baking game on Kilauea Ave. downtown Hilo. With a surprisingly satisfying and intriguing texture mochi is an attention grabber! You have to try it to fully understand its allure. We tried so many flavors of their mochi and can honestly say it is a treat you do not want to miss out on.
#4 Makani's Magic Pineapple Shack:
A family owned, family friendly smoothie and sandwich shop. This place deserves its reputation and should you find yourself needing to get the family something everyone wants, this is the spot for you.
#5 Kona Brewery:
Obviously known for its tasty craft beers, this spot is also a viable option for the whole family. They have a great variety of foods and specials that meet every demand! Rotating beers and specials means you can show up over and over and have a different experience! We ate their ahi tacos And chicken nachos.
#6 Ola Brewery:
Last but not least we spent a wonderful evening here and loved using our phones to scan a QR code and check out their menu. With a simple menu they can serve a good amount of people with good efficiency. Also, there is a crazy good sunset view from the outdoor dining area.
Hope this helps when you are determining your schedule for the Big Island!
