Private security attempt to stop members of the public from accessing Hurst Street and the surrounding area during Birmingham Pride, unless they pay an extortionate amount of money for a wristband. Here I was pushed, shoved, blocked, prevented from moving and had my phone snatched away from me.

It is estimated that the ‘Pink Pound’ is worth £6 Billion per year in the UK, while Pride organisations claim that they support the right to live without persecution or penalty based on your sexual orientation. The private security firms that get awarded the golden Pride contract will do anything to protect their income from the Pink Pound.

For years Manchester Pride got away with this scam until it was exposed as a fallacy. You do not need to pay anybody to access public highway. This is backed up in full by Highways England.
