AnyTone AT 6666 Pro Ham Radio Go Box Part 3 – Final Thing

Finally all pieces came together – here's my take on a Ham Radio Go Box built with the AnyTone AT 6666 Pro (and an ATU 100 tuner). All quite packed within the small case, but in the end worked out quite well.

It's not a shiny polished thing you'd buy – but if I'd want that I'd just buy something. This was built in a couple of hours as a proof-of-concept. Now that I know all the stuff fits into the case I'm just going to use and test it out in the field. To iterate and potentially build v1.5 or 2. Let's see what I like and dislike about that thing.

What I don't like for sure right away is the huge voltage drop. I knew 12V sockets can't provide anything near the 13.8V, but at close to 6A the voltage starts to drop below 12V and the radio blacks out. That gives me about 15W output power both on 10 and 15m, and that's something to start with. But I will definitely look into other power supply options that will provide higher voltage. After all this radio is capable of 60-80 Watt, limiting it to only 15 doesn't feel right (although portable always means compromise, right?).

For FT8 15W is ok, but I never tried SSB with only 15W. That's going to be interesting.

In any way, it was fun building it and I learned a few things already. Now let me use it in the upcoming weeks and months and I'll see what I can and want to improve on this...Thanks for following along with me!
