In this video I'll be taking a look at the brand new Harley Benton HB35 Plus in Metallic Blue.

The HB35 Plus has been in the Harley Benton range for a while, but in 2021 they have launched three new metallic colours. Metallic blue (In the video), metallic plum and metallic green.

This is an ES335 style, semi hollow guitar loaded with a pair of Roswell LAF humbuckers. The guitar is a maple top, back and sides with a mahogany centre block. The neck is also maple with a Pau Ferro fretboard.

This guitar is super affordable but plays like a guitar way above it's price point. Harley Benton manage to manufacture this to a high standard. The out of the box setup was pretty good, action was comfortable and everything felt pretty solid and ready to go. There are a few little finishing inconsistencies around the guitar such as lacquer crack on the neck join and some messy binding on the F holes, but honestly, for the price it's a no brainer. These are just cosmetic issues and are by no means a deal breaker.

This guitar plays great and would sit well with anyone looking for a rock solid guitar to learn on, but it's also built well enough to appeal to intermediate players who want something they can rely on.

In the video I am plugged into the Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is mic'd with a Lewitt Audio LCT 440 mic. I also use the Ceriatone Centura and Tate FX Antares for some drive tones.
