📱 How to Practice Detachment? - Swami Mukundananda answers this common question among spiritual aspirants in the Q/A session with IIM students. Detachment means realizing that worldly happiness is temporary and cannot satiate the soul. For example, a person who wants to be a Millionaire becomes happy for a while after becoming one, but then upon seeing a Billionaire, he feels discontented and strives to become a Billionaire. In this way, worldly pursuits are like chasing a mirage that keeps receding as we continue to pursue them.

In Bhakti Yog, the emphasis is not only to practice detachment from the world but also attaching our mind towards God, the source of Infinite bliss that will satiate the soul. Once our mind is attached to God, it will naturally get detached from the World. Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita also recommends the path of Karm Yog to Arjun to practice detachment. In Karm Yog, we discharge our worldly duties, but our mind is completely attached to God with the realization that the results of all our work are for the pleasure of God and not for the self.
