AHD vs CVBS Day and Night Vision Comparison | Vehicle Rear View Camera Test

In this video, we compare AHD and CVBS camera image quality in both daytime and nighttime conditions.

CVBS is the traditional analog video signal, widely used in many older truck monitors, mirror monitors, DVR systems and OEM-style vehicle camera systems.

AHD means Analog High Definition. It still uses analog-style cable transmission, but supports higher resolution, commonly 720P or 1080P. For modern trucks, buses, trailers and heavy-duty machinery, AHD 1080P can provide a much clearer and more stable image than traditional CVBS.

In this comparison, you can see the difference in:

Daytime image clarity
Night vision performance
Image details for obstacles and people
Color and brightness difference
Noise level in low-light conditions
Viewing experience on larger monitors

For basic rear view use, CVBS can still work, especially when the vehicle already has an old analog monitor installed.

But if the customer wants clearer image quality, better details, and a better viewing experience on 7-inch, 10.1-inch or 11.6-inch monitors, AHD is usually a better choice.

Important note: AHD and CVBS are not always compatible.
An AHD camera may not work properly with a CVBS-only monitor. If the signal format does not match, the monitor may show no image, black screen, rolling image, distorted image, wrong color, or unstable video. This does not always mean the camera is defective — it may simply be a signal compatibility issue.
